MATCH REPORT: Valencia CF lose 2-3 to Real Sociedad

Aaron Mayol and Aimar Blázquez goals are not enough for a share of the points

On the night of Sunday, September 20, Valencia CF played the match corresponding to matchday 7 of LALIGA EA SPORTS 2026-27 against Real Sociedad. The match, played at the Camp de Mestalla, ended with 2-3 on the scoreboard. Aaron Mayol and Aimar Blázquez, authors of the Valencian goals.

The match started with great intensity. In the fourth minute, Dimitrievski had to intervene with a double save from a lateral cross from a Real Sociedad free-kick. Next, our team made a dangerous counterattack in which Danjuma crossed, but Javi Guerra failed to arrive.

During the following minutes, the Valencian team accumulated more possession of the ball and, with it, added several arrivals to the goal defended by Remiro. However, Real Sociedad warned with a cut ball in three quarters of the field, but De Haas arrived, perfectly, to the cut. Shortly after, the txuri-urdin team took the lead on the scoreboard with an associative play, which ended up in the top corner Sucic (0-1).

Through the control of the game, our team tried the equalizer and were very close to 'materializing' it, but Jon Martin cut off a dangerous low pass from Danjuma in the visitors' area for Hugo Duro to 'push' it, but the rival centre-back arrived.

Later, shortly after the end of the first half, Real Sociedad had a counterattack to increase the lead, but Dimitrievski saved Oyarzabal's shot.

PART TWO

At the restart of the match, Otorbi entered the field for Ugrinic. Valencia CF added several arrivals and corners and, in one of them, they came very close to tying the game. In the next play, Ochieng came close to extending the lead on the scoreboard for the visiting team. Shortly after, De Haas appeared again to cut off a dangerous pass from the Kenyan winger.

After fifty-seven minutes, Aaron Mayol made his debut 'in style' in his scoring account at the Camp de Mestalla with a volley 'from an early bounce', impossible for Remiro (1-1). Mestalla roared. A few minutes later, Valencia CF came close to taking the lead with a great play by Otorbi, which Javi Guerra finished, but a txuri-urdin defender saved under the posts.

Our team and the fans pressed, as a result, another opportunity came generated by Otorbi on a counterattack, but Remiro deflected it for a corner. The dominance and the chances belonged to Valencia CF, but José Luis Munera whistled for a penalty in a play in which Javi Guerra touched Yangel Herrera in the area. Former Valencian player Carlos Soler shot and scored (1-2).

After eighty minutes, the debutant, officially, Aimar Blázquez scored the equalizer by getting ahead of the near post in a low cross from Mayol (2-2). In added time, Barrene scored the third for the visitors (2-3). Shortly after, Aimar came close to scoring a brace with a great header, but Remiro saved.

After this result, the first international break will take place. Therefore, the Valencian team will play again on Sunday, October 11 at 9:00 p.m. at El Sardinero, a match corresponding to matchday 8 of LALIGA EA SPORTS 26-27.
