🔴⚪ MATCH REVIEW ⚪🔴

Frome 2 - 0 Bashley

The Robins continue a strong month of November with a midweek victory against the Bashley team, putting a pair of goals past the visitors and adding to the team's tally of clean sheets with a 12th spotless defensive performance.

Frome entered the home fixture looking to keep up their run of strong results, managing to extend the team's streak to 3 winning results on the bounce with a goal differential of +8 across them. The Dodge continue their top defensive run this season, only conceding 10 goals across both cup and league competition so far.

The match was quickly put in Frome's favour with a goal from David Duru in the very first minute, taking a pass from last week's top scorer Hopkins and finding the net after an unlucky deflection by the visiting keeper. The team continued to take control in the first half, creating opportunities with long ball attacking plays and holding their own defensively - assisted by another great performance from Kyle Phillips. Another score came after just 27 minutes for the Dodge as some great teamplay led to a ball arcing over the Bashley defence to find Harry Lucas in the box for a 2-0 score - one which the squad would take into halftime following a coordinated effort from the team. Duru complemented his score by creating some threatening runs into the box throughout the first half, complemented by great downfield passing from the wings and a reliable defensive presence behind it all.

Bashley turned the heat up to open the second portion of the match. The away side carried some increased physicality in their play throughout the half. The Robins kept the pressure on as the pace ramped up, with Gould finding his way deep on a run into the opposing defence before some great teamplay from Sam Teale, Brendan Holmes and Albie Hopkins almost added to the 2-0 score on the next attack, with Bashley's keeper halting the eventual shot. Substitutions for both sides followed another shot on goal for the visitors; Duru almost grabbing an assist on an unsuccessful through ball before making way for Zac Drew in the 65th minute. Zac immediately brought the pressure forward again just 5 minutes later, having an opportunity to score being stopped only by the referee's whistle for offside.

A pair of substitutions kept the energy up for Frome as Theo Lynden and George Dowling stepped onto the pitch in the last 10 minutes of regular time, replacing Feltham and Hopkins. Despite some further opportunities from a refreshed Bashley side, the Dodge coasted through 3 added minutes to cap a complete 2-0 performance with highlights on both sides of play. Brendan Holmes took home the OMODA & JAECOO Man of the Match tonight after great contributions throughout the game to secure the victory. A central part of the team's performance tonight and across many recent seasons, Warren Maidment will celebrate his 200th match with the club this Saturday.

A third win in a row, a third win against Bashley on the season and a move to third in the standings ahead of this weekend's league fixtures. The Robins are away for a match against 16th-placed Didcot Town on Saturday, a club searching for their first victory since November 1st. The team will hope to continue their great run of form this month with another victory in front of the travelling Dodge supporters - 337 of whom made their way to the grounds this Wednesday to give their support to the Robins.
